got her in the mail today- lighting is driving me bonkers - I'm thinking a few flashlights and a roll of duct tape around the tripod

really though I DO need better lighting - will try and take care of that this weekend

shooting the reverse was a dud, and I'm too tired to try again right now

so what do you think of her?

well, better lighting or so I thought, until I started looking at the pictures,
I have played with the white balance, the type lights, even enhancing afterwards...
back to the drawing board

there's way too many to post on here so I created a new album - Morgan

That Morgan is one gorgeous model!
You are only using one light source, which may be OK but you are fighting "Fall-off". A light is more intense the close it is to the source. Close light overexposes the left and leaves the right dark. There are three ways to fight this.
1. Move the light further away, distance reduces the fall-off effect.
2. Put an "umbrella" on the light, or bounce the light source. A less direct light source will not have as much fallout.
3. Introduce a second "fill" light opposite the "Key" light. Another weaker light will fill in the shadows created on the right side. If the fill light is equal strength to your key light it will flatten the coin (like it was scanned). Try to balance the "fill" light to fill the dark side.
