This one has a special holder. Under it someone wrote "Lush Typ5, MS-63" What is this variety. Does it have any value?

In 1977 there are three nickel dollar varieties in the length of the water lines in front of the canoe, and if the first jewel at the front of the Queen's crown is attached or detached ; Type #2 - detached jewel with long water lines; Type #3 - detached jewel with short water lines

Wonder why I have custom holder that says "Type V". Couldn't get a good picture through the holder but the water lines don't go all the way to the dots like they do on my other Voyagers (Don't have any other '77s). Guess this "Type V" is a "Type 3". If someone has an older coin book could they look to see if there once was a "Type V" designation?

Type 1:Short lines, attached jewel and rounded edge

Type 2: Long lines, detached jewel, and square edfe.

Type 3: Short lines, detached jewel, andsquare edge.

MS-63; %5.00 across the board.

BTW, MS-65 gives top money for the grade.

This info from the 2010 7th ed. P. Charest.
Hope this helps.
Mine is a type 2

Charest does not mention the flat Island varieties. Flat island can be paired with Full Water lines or Short Water Lines as you mentioned. Charlton 60th Ed. describes the following 6 Obv/rev combinations:

Obv-001/Rev-001 Attached jewel, Full water lines (Normal, MS, SP)
Obv-001/Rev-002 Attached jewel, Short water lines (MS, SP)
Obv-002/Rev-001 Detached jewel, Full water lines (MS, SP)
Obv-002/Rev-002 Detached jewel, Short water lines (MS, SP)
Obv-001/Rev-003 Attached jewel, Flat island, Full water lines (MS Only)
Obv-001/Rev-004 Attached jewel, Flat island, Short water lines (MS Only)

I assume no Rev-003/Rev-004 have been documented with Obv-002 yet.

Based on this grouping, yours would be a flat island. Can you produce a better scan of the water line area?

Its been a few years. I finally broke the "Type V" out of its fancy holder to get good pictures for you guys. Still have no clue what "Type V" means. Not sure if there is anything remarkable about this dollar. Any thoughts?

Living dinosaur: Is that you Dick out there in the desert? Many folks have been asking about you and this is the first time I've seen words from you in a very long time.
