I can't tell if it's the coin or camera making it washed out. This is from a catalog:
357 al-Mutawakkil, AH 232-247/847-861. Dirham, al-Basra AH 241. al-Mu`tazz named as heir. A-230.3. Scarce. Once
lacquered EF 50

I believe he meant "Moslem".

It's definitely Islamic, and from the 'Abbasid period. Al-Mutawakkil was caliph in AH 241, but if you can read "241" on this coin, then either the coin is clearer in hand or you're better at reading Kufic dates than I am. All I can tell is that with the double marginal inscription on the obverse, it dates from sometime after AH 212.
