kid lobbed a coin to dad while he was making toast in the morning? Dad fumbled the coin...landed in left slice side causing uneven bread burning? Holes caused by fork tines trying to pry it out. Start of very bad day?

All great guess...and I'm glad my day starts off better than the toast issue...LOL

My son found this dime metal detecting on the beach. Dime was off the sand about one foot and in 1 inch of water. A whole host of events could happen such as:

1 - Consist water action
2 - Grit & grinding from the sand
3 - Frozen solid in ice for 4 to 5 months per year
4 - Ultra Violet rays
5 - Contaminant effects

By the condition of the dime I'm guessing it has been there for at least 5 years and possibly longer.

Environmental Damage...
