Take out the now dead and HORRIBLE PCI and put in DGS. I like DGS a lot, it's legit.

Where is SGS! Seriously, I love PCGS's holders but not what they have become. Ridiculously overpriced to send your coins to. I like ANACS all around.

I agree with vermontensium, Anacs is still fairly reasonable, with Pcgs you have to join, then deal with their overpriced service. I haven't dealt with DGS yet.

PCGS is the "best" by popular demand, but ANACS provides the best service for your money, and you don't have to pay a subscription fee to send coins to them.

I rather dislike all of them. However, I did vote for PCGS but only due to their standings in the Coin World. So many times I've heard a dealer say "Of course it cost more, it's slabbed by PCGS" I have no slabbed coins at all. Any time I do purchase one, I break out the coin, thow away the plastic. If I were to decide to become a coin sales person, I'd stick to PCGS due to the ease in selling.

Quote: If I were to decide to become a coin sales person, I'd stick to PCGS due to the ease in selling. Exactly right. Its the wild west out there. Counterfeiters, sharks and liars. Fortunately we can use these grading services to assure a potential buyer that what they are getting is genuine and has a fair grade. If the coins are mounted on your wall or sitting in a shoebox for your enjoyment there is no need to grade.

While it's hard to make a blanket statement for all coins and all series, PCGS slabbed coins generally sell for a premium to all the other TPGs.

Personally, I can't stand when people slab coins or buy slabbed coins just to know a coin's grade and if it is genuine, especially if it is a non-key. I always stress to learn and research before buying coins of any kind and to learn how to grade and authenticate to a certain extent before buying any coins.

Quote: that what they are getting is genuine and has a fair grade. With counterfeit slabs (containing counterfeit coins) that can be quite convincing, unfortunately neither of these assertions are true.
