It's a little better than VG. I'd go F-12

I just consulted my Charlton and there aren't really any varieties on this coin. Sorry for asking a silly question

I beg to differ, my friend. There are at least two varieties: Tjhe wide date, and the narrow date. Also the 1893, narrow date has a re-punched "9" It is very scarce. On the "9", look at the sw area of the loop, fior a slight indication, and on the bulb as well. It is more notable on the bulb. Good luck!
I can't tell which yours is, due to vision problems, but It looks like the standard.

Again, Charlton is not the place to go to look for variety info. The new 2011 edition of Charlton's (65th) will have a Victoria Large Cent variety section in the back and some 93's will be in there. Actually, 1893 is one of the richest of all Victoria dates for varities and the only date that Griffin had 2 rarity 8 coins in. The 1893's have some of the most offset repunches of any year .. some are spectacular. Best to look for are the 9's, with the 3's as well. There are many many spacing varieties, because not just the last digit was repunched into the working dies.... so you have varying gaps between the 8 & 9 and then the final 9 & 8. Again, Charlton will not list anything in the main section of the book that has not been TPG certified (usually by ICCS) and ICCS certifies a very scant few varieties. There are some wonderful Canadian Coin sites that have people conducting all sorts of research/study into errors, varieties and other specialized niches of collecting. I would recommend the CCRS site as some place you would want to spend some time.

R2B, I agree entirely! I just received an email from Dan in crystal lake, that explains the differences to look for in determining the size of the leaves. One doesn't have to have several in hand to compare. one will tell the wholke story. I was very surpriised to learn that so much detaill is present. I inquired about the ring of beads, as related to the three sizes of leaves, and if there was any changes that were affected. Yes there is. In the large leaf, the beads are round, the small leaf has the bead OBLONG, pointing right, and the medium leave have the beads shaped oblong, pointing down, or to the bottom The count as well is different: Medium108 149 in the large reverse,,and 129 in the small.
I am looking forward to getting the new charleton catalogue, for the new section on the large cent varieties. I hope this "makes your day", as it sure has made mine!
