My initial feeling is a filled die. I'm curious to see what other responses you get.

Hi Amac

Struck Through Grease ,, interesting that the reverse would not show signs of it , this usually results in a transfer or at the least a weak area on the opposing side of the coin.

Hi Amac

The market for such coins is small at best, the coin will be better appreciated in your collection in My opinion.

The best struck throughs are the ones struck thru wire or Textile with the object retained in the coin.

Personally I do not part with any that I find.

As a Mercury collector myself I would keep this in my misc. box in a good vinyl coin flip so that I could show it around. I wouldn't get rid of it though.

Hi Amac

To be honest, I dont think I would use up grading money on the Merc ,, the value is just not there to warrant it .
