Hello I recently came upon this coin and was wondering where it's from and anything else you might be able to tell me. Thanks in advance.

Front and rear next to a 20 cent Australian piece for scale.

That is a 1 öre coin from Sweden. Dated 17-something, cannot read the year.

Man I am stumped. I searched the World coin gallery database an came up empty handed. I do believe it is a coin of some sort. I can't make out the date from the pics. Are you able to tell what the date is?

Chrisild is right: 1 ore from Sweden, with the monogram of king Adolf Frederik, who was king of Sweden 1751-1771. This type was struck during the following years: 1751, 1758, 1759, 1760, 1761, 1763 and 1768.

The 3 crowns around the royal monogram are a giveaway for Sweden.

Here is an image of that coin type:

Scroll down to "1 öre SM, 1763, Avesta". By the way, Sweden had two currency systems, sort of, back then - one was silver based, one was copper based. The "SM" on your piece indicates it was silver based (the coin itself is not silver); the copper based type would say "KM" instead.

Can't tell the date by looking at it might be able to have it bounce through with the old paper pencil trick? Any estimated value in such rough condition?Found it funny that the king the coin was minted under died after a large meal of lobster, caviar, sauerkraut, kippers, champagne and 14 servings of a pastry served in milk. Also funny that the copper coins marked S.M. only held 1/3rd of their instructed value in practice.
