this is the best picture I could get - it is off of an ebay item. The problem I had was the extra 'mark' on the left below the F in Francs. I was thinking this was KM 1.3 but there is no indication of any additional markings. The seller says it is a rectangular stamp with 1AR stamped inside. Does anyone have any idea what this is? Is that some sort of indicator for a copy, trial strike or ?
Krause is not exactly meticulous about all the details. In my catalog (2004) it says there's the mintmark "1 AR" to the left of CFA for KM#3.2, 500 fr., but it doesn't show on the picture either. I think it's legit.
I believe you are correct this is KM#1.3, the 1 AR is the mint mark for Areezo, Italy. This coin was only struck in proof with a Krause value of $45.00.
