First time ever ...... a 10-roll USA nickel search (my 'typical' search mode) ..... and not a single coin prior to 1960.

Skunked .... zero finds ..... after 192,800 coins ..... 4820 rolls .... and this is the only time I've searched through 10 rolls to come up with a big fat zero.

Ahhh well ..... the next set will be better for sure.

Tell us your stories of being skunked.

I'll hopefully feel better after reading them.

David

I once went through 27 rolls without finding any.

At first I thought you meant the furry animal!

It made your real skunking a bit (but only a bit!) less horrifying..

Just wait until you roll-search someone's metal-detecting finds! I had too much pride to re-roll them -- quite a few just went to the trash can!

I also recall someone on here roll-searched dimes and found 2 dead batteries in a roll!

So it's one thing to get skunked, but quite another to lose money!

Well I do not really search nics all that much, but I have been through about a hundred or so customer rolled halves so far this year only to have to re-roll every single coin and take them back. I have found nothing in half rolls for the first six months of this year. last year I was getting around 40% with silver content.

Use a different bank, then, for your roll hunting. My bank is already starting to give me only-new mint rolls. I may have to dump it all back on them.
