The frost looks really nice. Finding silver in quarters is hard to come by!

All of the coins I own are in the three crates left by my Father when he died in 1981. So far I have opened one of the crates.
All of the coins my Father collected (except for a handful still in the cardboard wrappers) were received from customers in his small country store: One RC, Moon Pie, Coke, Honey Bun, Vienna Sausage, pigs foot, boiled egg, pack of cigarettes and Pabst Blue Ribbon at a time. He ran his stores and was a fixture in the community of X-Way Mill Crossing for 20 years (1960-1980). His customers loved him and called him "Mister John". He was a good guy.
The camera is a Sony Cyber-Shot with a 6.0 megapixel resolution. Pics were taken in diffuse sunlight on a sheet of white copy paper. No flash. Macro setting @ approximately 5". Hand held.

Welcome to the forums Maxie and I had to laugh at the boxes. That sounds like a lot of fun going through those. I sensed some emotion in your post for your father. I know the feeling. Going through Dad's stuff is not an easy thing to do. Just enjoy it, I am sure a good man like him would rather you did. Awesome images too. I am definitely one of the worst image takers there is on this forum unless I get lucky once in awhile. What photo image program do you use? I just downloaded PhotoScape free and if I get used to it I think it will work out better than the Picasa I have been using.

It's very difficult to take pictures of coins or any Macro image using artificial light unless you use a tripod and are familiar with f stop settings. The best way for an amateur photog is to do what I did with these. They were taken outside on a bright day in the shade with no flash. I used a bright white background of copy paper. The paper shows up blue in the natural light. I set the camera on Macro and used a 5 inch focal length. I download (cut and paste actually) the images to my computer and use Irfanview to open and edit the images. Irfanview is a no frills image editor but it has powerful filters and resizing algorithms. It's very simple to use. Use the mouse to indicate the picture area you want, then "Edit" "Crop Selection". Then "Image" Resize/Resample" then "File" "Save As". Yer done. Maxie
