I recently bought a rather large bullion lot that had been misplaced on ebay for a great price. It boiled down to getting a few Peace and Morgan dollars for under melt, since the actual silver content of this lot exceeded 19 ounces(including all the 1 gram bars and extra 1 ounce bar).

There were several unexpected surprises, specifically some "better than junk" grade Peace dollars. I'm not very good at grading these. The first one actually appears stronger than the one in my 7070 type set.

And the slightly better date 1926-d looks decent too.

1922 MS-63 might even slide to MS-64 and the 26-D MS-61.

Interesting. Thanks for the opinions! My grade of these in hand is quite a bit different from the consensus on both coins, but I'm no pro at grading these.

I was thinking for the 1922 a MS-64+ bordering on 65. I have an ex NGC MS-64 1922 in my type set, and the pictured one has a better strike, better luster, and fewer abrasions in comparison to the NGC one. However, the NGC one has some rainbow toning, so NGC may have given it a bump in grade as a result. The pictures probably don't capture the luster on this 1922 accurately, it is simply blazing and satiny in hand. I was surprised and a bit mortified to find this thrown in with the junk..lol.

The 1926-d I was thinking AU-50/53. Some decent luster in the fields, but there appears to be a fair amount of high point wear.

22 looks like a 64 even to me. A few too many scratches on the face for a + but good strike. For the 26...AU cleaned? The toning looks all splotchy and weird. And I think I am seeing a bunch of parallel hairlines, mostly on the obverse.

Thoughts?

I don't thinnk the hairlines on the 26-d are indicative of a cleaning. They are scattered and light, like you'd see on circulated coins. It could have been dipped though, since I agree the toning is a bit odd.

Yeah, dipping would definitely explain the weird toning pattern.
