I also have the coin pictures in the grading section so I apologize for the dupe set of pictures. According to the $3 Gold book that my friend has, there are only about 150 surviving specimens thought to exist for this date! The coin appears to be 100% original, nice orange skin, flashy prooflike surfaces still shine through over the obverse rim and basically all of the reverse. This is my second G$3. These aren't cheap so I may have to hold off awhile before getting any others! By the way, there is no visible spot on the obverse like you see in the picture...I think something got on the slab. Quote: I saw this on the CU forum, and almost commented there even though I rarely do. To be honest with you, this has got to be one of THE most attractive $3 gold coins I've ever seen, maybe even the most attractive gold coin. It is FLAT out jaw dropping! I love the orange gold look, and this one has that in spades, as well as being a tough date. Major congrats to you! What does it grade? I'd guess AU-53 and give it a +, a * and a CAC!
Johnny, at whatever point in my life I decide to sell coins, especially this one, I'll have to hire you to do auction descriptions! Thanks. I do think this coin is special, too. And, you're dead on with the grade from PCGS.

Neither are the same. But I'll say that first one is actually nicer than mine in grade and strike. I like mine better than that second one though.
