That is correct.

I now understand what Zeewool means. I think he believes that there is more interest in green seal notes with stars and interesting serial numbers than there is in other types of paper money.

He may be right.

I for one would like him to stick around and keep sharing what he has.

That is my way of saying there is room for all different kinds here.

Yeah there are a ton of other types of notes that are much more interesting, obsoletes of the state you live in, confederate, tickets, Large size notes. Thats the kind of stuff that I fill my collection with!

Just for the record, I save everything I can get my hands on that is out of the ordinary or unusual. If it happens to be a FRN then so be it.

I must confess that Z has actually affected what I am saving though. When I first found out what a star note was I saved every one I could find thinking it was a gold mine or something. I now only save very few of the ones I run across. I look at most of them and use the "catch and release" method. It has to have some redeeming quality for me to save one now, like a fancy serial, or uncirculated, low or high serial, etc.

Another area that Z has affected my collection, after seeing all those notes he has been showing elsewhere in these forums I have decided to acquire a few of my own. Nothing fancy to start with, some red seals, blue, and brown. As time goes on I plan on gathering more possibly buying a few that actually have value... unlike all the ones I now have.

So I guess what I am saying is keep posting Z your message is getting through

I have thought of trying to do a rainbow collection of small size notes. Try and see how many different color seals I can get and then display them all together. It looks really neat once its done. There is green, blue, yellow, red, brown.

Listen you guys, I am not as down on green seals as you all may think. I just have my own perspective on them, which differs greatly from the average collector, and most definitely differs from that of the investor.

Low serial numbers, radars, repeaters, errors, bookends, etc, etc, are fun to collect. They are hard to find, and the reason for this is the relative low issuance of these particular notes. (Good notes to find and hold on to).

Star notes are also hard to find, but for a totally different reason. Their rate of issuance is relatively low in comparison to regular notes, but the perception of these things as investments is far greater than many folks realize.

The average collector may have ten or twenty star notes, and keep them tucked safely away waiting for the time when they appreciate in value.

Realize that there are many an investor who each sit on tens of thousands of these star notes, still in the original banding.... waiting....

Star notes are by no means rare or even scarce in existence, but are scarce to find in circulation. They are fun to find because they are not being circulated, but things to keep as investments for the future? They are worth small premiums now to collectors because of the hoarding by investors, and that is the only reason.
