Listen you guys, I am not as down on green seals as you all may think. I just have my own perspective on them, which differs greatly from the average collector, and most definitely differs from that of the investor.
Low serial numbers, radars, repeaters, errors, bookends, etc, etc, are fun to collect. They are hard to find, and the reason for this is the relative low issuance of these particular notes. (Good notes to find and hold on to).
Star notes are also hard to find, but for a totally different reason. Their rate of issuance is relatively low in comparison to regular notes, but the perception of these things as investments is far greater than many folks realize.
The average collector may have ten or twenty star notes, and keep them tucked safely away waiting for the time when they appreciate in value.
Realize that there are many an investor who each sit on tens of thousands of these star notes, still in the original banding.... waiting....
Star notes are by no means rare or even scarce in existence, but are scarce to find in circulation. They are fun to find because they are not being circulated, but things to keep as investments for the future? They are worth small premiums now to collectors because of the hoarding by investors, and that is the only reason.
