As far as those Wheaties go, despite the "
RedBook" listings....those prices are generally viewed as
very high for most coins listed therein. It's "not" a good "price guide", it does however have a wealth of other coin information which is quite valuable for every collector.
Most common date/average condition Wheat Cents are worth .03 - .05 Cents apiece, and that's all. ('30's, '40's, and '50's are considered "common". Yes, even those that are
80 years old now are
still considered "common" ! ....

As far as the Nickels for '09, in my opinion, it's viewed by many as a "modern" low mintage. In other words, certainly
NOT low by Classic coin standards, but in "modern" terms only.
So, the fact that most collectors don't have or can't acquire them, the premium goes up. It's the "demand" or "desire" really, that warrants these premiums. It may or may not be sustainable long term, but folks just "want" them....moreso that they're so hard to get !
Finding both P's
and D's in excellent condition in a business strike, ISN'T very easy with most any coin anyway.....put a low mintage on it....and there ya go.
