When my Dad died in 1996, I acquired five rolls of sealed(plastic coin tubes) of brilliant uncirculated wheat and memorial cents. They are stuck in the tubes and won't come out. They were sealed with the plastic lids on the tubes. They are in the years and mints as follows: 1957D, 1958D, 1959D, 1959P, and 1960D. Can anyone tell me what their value would be? Also, how can I remove them from the stuck plastic tubes? Suggestions, please.

take two pair of vice grips, apply one pair to top of tube, other pair to bottom of tube, move vice grips in opposite directions, tubes will snap.

I suggest you do this over a table with a towel placed on it. The coins won't roll on cloth near as well as they will on an uncovered top.

Use an exacto blade to cut down the side.

From a July 2, 2010 copy of the Greysheet:

BU rolls "ask" price:
1957D, $7.00
1958D, $7.00
1959D, $3.10
1959P, $1.65
1960D, $2.60
1960D sm, $5.50

Hope that helps.

Please tell me that they do not have a greenish hue to them. I have seen this before on BU rolls in plastic tubes. The tubes contained PVC or some other chemical that caused the cents to take a greenish color and the tubes had to be broken to the coins out. They were all stuck together and only after a very long soak in acetone (two weeks) did they start to come apart.
