Not sure if you were looking for dates and IDs on these as with the other 3 but they are:

#1 Valentinian II - more info here: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear/s4156.html

#2 Need to have a think about this one - will get back to you.

#3 Valens VRBS ROMA - same dates etc as the one in your other post.

#4 Julian - Minted in Lyons between 360 and 363 - More info here: http://www.finds.org.uk/database/se...37/ruler/114

As said above - very nice bunch of coins.

Very nice

That's the nice thing about Roman silver coins, even if they've been cleaned two hundred years ago, more than enough time for the toning to come back

Think I have #2 now.

Magnus Maximus 383/5-388, Usurper in Britain, Spain, France and Africa against against Gratian, Valentinian II and Theodosius I.

DN MAG MAX-IMVS PF AVG / VIRTVS RO-MANORVM, Roma enthroned. The 'G' and 'X' become quite clear when knowing where to look.

An example here: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear/s4201.html

Quite an interesting guy, Wiki info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_Maximus

I also think that this is one of the people, among many that Russell Crowes character in Gladiator is based on - two others also being Spanish usurpers called Maximus from 410 and 420AD. Hollywood got the name right but were about 200 years out with the dates!

Thanks again for all the info, extremely helpful. Number two really is an interesting piece, Magnus certanly had quite a history! Hope you enjoyed seeing them all, I was certanly very pleased when I found them at auction last week, had to have them! I looked a few up for values, have to say I'm quite surprised how much some of them are fetching!

Thanks again bobbyhelmet and all others. Now I'm unsure wheither to keep them or sell them - tempting to keep them all - If anyone may be interested in any, PM me!
