But wait a minute, week after week these same notes aren't selling, just being relisted at seller's cost. But wait another minute, here are a pair that did sell.

So, if you can get a TPG to grade yours as a 66, which will cost about $10-$15, plus the cost of shipping, you could reasonably ask $27 for it if you provided free shipping in your listing.

All things considered, my 'guess' would be that it is probably worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $7 to $12. Like John eludes to though, it is neat because of the low serial number. On the other hand though, I know what I would do with it.

That is just my math, a known realized sale, minus listing fees, minus final valuation fees, minus paypal fees, minus shipping costs (not to mention time and gas getting to and from the post office). I look at bottom lines instead of internet or book values. I did not factor in the realistic possibility of the note actually grading at 66, but, who knows? (It has a lot more perceived value than it does tangible value in my opinion).

No can, and no worms Marc. Please don't take anything I say personally. I know how to liven things up, and am just having a bit of fun, at the expense of your thread, I'm afraid.

You asked for opinions, and I rather thought you might accept an honest one. The note is neat, it has a wow factor, but actual monetary value beyond $10 is something that I personally just don't see.

I am sure that there will be plenty of others here who will disagree vehemently with me, so I just wanted to get my response in before they did, so they would not think that I was personally attacking their responses.

Please put that note in a protective sleeve if you want to retain any value. As per value it depends on your goals. Are you just collecting random notes / building sets / etc.

In general for SN's less than 1000, there is a $5 to $8 premium for every drop in the SN by 100. So if 950 is worth 20 then 850 is 25 to 30 all the way down till you hit sn 100. My example does not take into consideration numbers like 880 (binaries) / (876) ladder types etc. That's a separate game.

As to value - It depends on your collection and "theme" of what you put together and accumulate over the long haul. Random notes here and there are not going to do anything value wise unless the SN is less than 10, solid etc.

Just search "fancy serial numbers" and see what's out there and what folks are collecting to get an idea.

Peace
