I'm delighted to find these pennies in a box of old papers. Can anyone help me with details?

Looks like a sweet 1908 Indian Head penny in fine or better condition
and a 1955s slightly dinged up but otherwise uncirculated condition.
How come I never find anything?

Nice finds! :) Though you may want to remove the coins and place them in newer holders... Those old ones may contain damaging, goo-creating PVC...

Nice finds, better than the 4 $2 bills I found.

The details are the 1908 Cent has a mintage of 32,326,367, approximately. It would sell for about $5 to $10 in that grade. Although a rather common coin, still almost all Indian Head cents are somewhat valuable.
The 55S again too is rather a common coin with about 44,610,000 minted. In AU (Almost Uncirculated or About Uncirculated) it would sell for less than one dollar.
However, since you found them and spent nothing for them, great find.
