For something worth thousands of dollars the picture is awful blurry.

Not only that as usual but ebay? Wouldn't you consign this to Heritage or a comparable auction house? Then there is his starting bid.

That is a coin that absolutely must be submitted and authenticated before attempting a sale. The rarity along with the blurry pictures leaves serious concerns about authenticity.

I should have said "supposedly" worth thousands. Its also kinda shiny for a nearly 220 year old coin.

If it was authentic, it would be slabbed. Plain and simple

Probably purchased as authentic, then found out it was a fake, and holed it to make it look more authentic and worth less value. Trying to get their money back. Wonder how much they paid originally. Another "Oooops" in the game of life.

What I like is how carefully the seller worded his auction. I could be wrong but not once does he state that you are bidding on an actually authentic 1792 Half Disme. other than its the title, but the title can be argued as being descriptive, not a statement. All that is factually stated is that it is silver, it has a hole, what the coin says on it with a description, and a ton of facts about the real 1792 Half Disme. I dunno, but looks like one of those famous Chinese "replicas" which seem to be flooding ebay of late. Nobody bid on the darn thing, since it was pretty obvious, but for something like that I agree with the others that you need expert attribution, and no way can you get that in under three days. Thanks for the laugh, vermontensium, I always enjoy these clumsy attempts to fool the buying public.

I am surprised some sap didn't bid on it in hopes of "hitting the big one" or just for simple lack on knowledge. The desciption makes it sound like a steal......
