It would be highly unlikely that there would be any post 1996 WAM cents from Denver. The WAM dies are hubbed from the master hub used for the proof cent reverse die. That master hub is made and used in Philadelphia only. The Master hub used in Denver is also made in Philadelphia but for Denver to make WAM cents they would have to have been shipped the Proof master hub. If that had happened then ALL of the Denver dies for that year would have been made with a WAM hub.

Between 1994 and 1996 a Denver WAM is a slight possibility. In order for that to have happened a die(s) hubbed with the Proof master hub would have to have been shipped to Denver from Philadelphia. So far none have turned up, but most people don't bother looking because they only look for the 98, 99, and 2000 Philadelphia issues that have been publicized. (Most collectors will never make a new discovery because they only look for things which are already known.)

Nuts, I misread one site and thought it was the distance between the M and the E. I guess that one goes back into circulation after all.

So true! I am exactly the opposite. I scan the coin to see if it is a known variety and if it isn't, I try to find something new!

And it has paid off! I recently discovered a previously unknown DDO on an '82 LMC Lg Date Zinc!

The alleged 1996 WAM was a Philly...the coin was never authenticated and was supposedly stolen.
