Dave, I'm now back at my home base in the middle of the desert, got back yesterday (Fri 1 Sep). Going from 49F at night to 110F in the day and with rain most days all summer to a location which has seen 3" of rain this past 11 months (no monsoons here) is gonna take some acclimatization. My travel trailer's air conditioner is working overtime just to get inside down to 90F. I'm gonna be busy with the park's water system into October (I got drafted to get state certified last spring; at least it pays the rent), but I sure would like to get the Arizona coiners together this fall. Buckeye is about as central a location as we're gonna find. Got any ideas of a luncheon spot not far from I-10? Maybe near the new Fry's?

OMG.... So do I.

We HAVE to get in touch with each other for lunch or dinner or something. You me and Fred(we already said we would get together after he came back down to the desert) are within 30 minutes of each other.
Rest in Peace

Well, almost. It takes me ten minutes just to get off the goat path which passes for a county road before I get on I-10. Washboarded potholed unpaved dust- or mud-filled open range cattle trail is a better description of my road. The 9th Infantry in the 1870s wouldn't use it since it was so rough and the Apaches couldn't give it away, so we built this little RV park in the desert to keep all but the hardiest hardcore tourists away. We pave it a little at a time with the oil leaking out of our punched-out oilpans.

From Exit 69 might be another 30 minutes, depending on my speed which is usually one of the lowest on the road, and which Buckeye exit I'll take.

Also, Debbie (dsking) is in Mesa and I think SuperDave is also from AZ (I might be confused on this . The Arizona Chapter of CCF is, however, well-represented. We shall overcome!

Pick a weekday, probably in October. Wednesday's work best for me, usually (that said, as soon as we settle on a date, something will come up), but I can work with just about any day with enough advance notice. Will need directions to wherever you guys decide.

This will be my first eyeball with anyone in the group, but don't expect me to wear a tuxedo. Ah'm retahred (don't go there ). I even got me a cowboy hat!

Just had another thought. One of us ought to start a new thread on this embryonic AZCCF gathering to let all the Zonies know what's happening.

This desert weather is confusing. One minute, I complain that we've gotten 3" of rain in 11 months and the next, we get dumped on with 25% of our year-to-date total with major lightning and internet-killing wind. And it's headed your way! At least it cooled things off until manana.

Looking forward to the get-together!!!!

Fred
