I just inherited this coin, and I see that this coin books fairly high even in Good. So how would you value this coin in AG (since AG is never listed in price guides)?

Considering only 246,000 minted and the popularity of those coins are growing, about $180 to $200 is just about what it would sell for.

it's a nice collector coin that is either FR2 or AG3 and would agree with the previous price statement

I am not sure about that price considering that obvious verdigris spot on liberty's chest.
Rest in Peace

I'm sorry, but I don't think it would bring nearly that much. RedBook G-4 value is $180, and the RedBook is usually quite high. Considering the grade and the spot, I'd imagine it would go for about $100 on ebay. On the positive side though, the spot may be removable and the coin is remarkable clean and mark free given the grade.

Thanks for the input, everyone. Actually, I put this coin in acetone for a couple of minutes after having scanned it. So now that spot is light brown, and less noticeable.

Current bid is $130 in Good, so, perhaps $100 on a good day.

Such a coin is scarce and therefore valuable, and although you may have bought it for a very reasonable price, you still end up being disappointed with it on account of it's condition. I have been collecting ancients for nearly 40 years, and I personally would prefer a common coin in VF condition rather than a rare one that is only just identifiable.
