I recently unearthed some inherited coins that my grandfather collected in the 60s and 70s. These have been stored away since then. Among the mostly U.S. coins were some rolls of Canadian cents, King and Queen. I was nosing around ebay spot checking some values and came across the 1955 cent NSF variation.

I've got about 7 or 8 1955 cents here, and after researching the pictures and learning about the denticle and flared "I" etc., I got as close a look as I could with a magnifying glass and I think 3 of these might be NSF. I know, those would be quite the odds, and I'm prepared to be proven wrong.

Nevertheless, I want to get them authenticated for potential resale but am admittedly coin-ignorant. It is best to send these to Canada for grading (CCCS or another)? Will they automatically know to check for the NSF? Naturally I also worry about coins being pocketed or swapped out, or some other unfortunate event, but I suppose I have to have faith in these TPG and would appreciate any advice in that regard.

Anyway, thank you for any input you care to offer - I appreciate the expert opinion of true collectors.

Put up some photos or scans if you can. It's easy to tell them apart.

Yes photos would help in your quest for authenticity and I wouldn't worry about the well known grading company's they are a business and want your business so I don't think they would switch your coins. I personally have sent in many coins threw the years to ICCS and have never had a problem but at first I wondered the same thing.

I third the photo request. For some reason, the NSF is one of those coins that seems to sell fairly
well even when not graded. If you want to send coins for grading, my only suggestion would be to send with
a tracking number. PCGS would also be fine to send them to save on cross-border shipping hassles.

Thanks, all, for the friendly responses. I'll see how well I can capture some of these with the camera and post them up tomorrow evening.

Well gang...I eliminated all but 1 of them. Blah. The one I'm still questioning is, unfortunately, somewhat corroded - greenish stuff around the edges and right over the "I" and denticles. I might have to put this out to pasture. I told you I was prepared to be wrong! ha. You're a nice bunch - thanks.

I'm new here and was wondering if anyone has advice on this coin?

Though the "I" doesn't have much of a flared serif it is pointing between two denticles (as far as I can see - perhaps wishful thinking).

I know I'm piggy backing on this post but I'm wondering if anyone has advice?

Thanks for the quick reply! It is a 1955 coin. Should I also scan the other side and submit it?
