I really just don't understand why I'm seeing so many 1917 SLQs in top tier 1916 holders. This is the third one I've seen this year.... I'm at a loss......

Looks like a 16 to me.. just from the head into the reeding. unless 16's are more exaggerated than I remember.

Nope. I'm 100% certain that it is a 1917. The central dots where the head breaks the reading should be half the size as the outer dots, not to mention the shield detail, the bottom robe and the hair curl are all of the 1917 type.

Come to think of it though, that ICG slab does not have a number or barcode. Maybe an earlier generation slab, but something seems awry.

Is ICG top tier? I haven't heard much about them.

Though not as popular as ANACS, ICG is often considered on the same level as ANACS. As a matter of fact, I believe the current president of ICG used to be the president of ANACS(or vice versa).

I found out on collector's universe that the latest generation ICG slabs have the number and barcode on the back, so it still could be a genuine slab and ICG just goofed.
