I just went through a roll of 2010 loon loonies from the Wpg RCM and found 4 out of 25 with the same "pedestal shaped" mark at 6 o'clock on the Obverse under the Queen's bust. It doesn't look like die clash because nothing lines up from the Rev.

Any theories?

The first 4 pics are microscope shots of the 4 different coins, the 5th pic is a duplicate from my digi-cam:

Nice observation! Could be a die crack variety. You should email your findings to Canadian Coin News. Who knows you may be the 1st to discover this.

Thanks Iaconic, good idea, I just sent an email to CCN. I didn't see any mention of this on that other forum in QC.

I vote die break as well. I just looked at my roll and the first coin has the same crack under the the bust but not as pronounced as yours (and not as long). Nice find.

I got no reply from the editor at CCN nor any mention of it in issue #10 Aug 31, so I re-submitted to John Regitko "errorman"

Good idea to contact John directly. Bret may have forwarded your initial email to him anyway. I hope you hear something back soon.
