So there's an empty slot in my Lincoln cents warman's folder for a 1982 S. According to every piece of literature I can find this is a proof coin. There are no other slots for proofs in this folder. What gives? Am I missing something?

to CCF!

The '82-S would be a proof coin. I have never heard of Warman. Maybe an error/typo?

You are right,an 82s is a proof. There is a large and small date for 82,maybe that is what they want there! That was also the changeover to the zinc core.

Hello, long time reader first time poster.
Warmans books are bad about this. They don't like to leave the blank spots at the end like Whitman so they throw in random S mints to fill it in. I bought the Kennedy books and they have about 10 S mints at random points. No rhyme or reason to it.

Ok, thanks. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some coin I was overlooking.

As for the warman's folders, everythings going to be moved to danscos gradually as I can afford them and sets become completed. It's almost time to buy the nickel and State Quarter albums. I can ignore the empty slot in the folder for now.

A bit off-topic, but I actually found one of these while roll-hunting cents... in Canada!

Proof cents must almost never show up in circulation -- after all, did the spender really need the 1 cent? I sledom hear people finding them on roll-hunting threads.

So I wondered briefly if a few proofs actually get sent out into the wild somehow. Probably not, but it's a neat idea.

/\ Wow...

I actually am ressurecting this thread because I have three Warman's books that I'm working on;
1) 1909-1958
2) 1959-2009
3) 1965-2015

I notice that my 2nd book has a spot for the 1982s - but the third book doesn't...
I suspected something is up, because just before our penny was discontinued (I'm Canadian; it is still legal currency), Warmans made an attractive penny book - but in my opinion it was full of errors - as it was missing many spots for the last several years...

:)

Could be when it was printed, who knows, could have been an error. I have an early Whitman album, 1941 to somewhere around 1977 and has a spot for a "1965 D". You can tell it was printed obviously before 1965...
