VAMs - Where Do You Draw The Line? - Coin Community Forum

Since ALL coins will have at least some MINUTE difference, where do you draw a line with VAMs? Example: Lets say a Morgan die started a crack, and after 250 coin strikes, the crack went from top to bottom. That means each of the 250 coins would have a minutely different crack. Is there any definitive rules on these things? Seems there are a gazillion VAMs out there already, and more each day added. MM Report this Post to the Staff

SsuperDdave Moderator United States 23522 Posts	Posted 07/31/2006 4:49 pm That's a darn good question. For me, I guess, I stop when I run out of VAM's I consider "interesting." As of right now, that number is just over 70 and counting, with many more on the list, and that's all one date - 1921. Yes, VAM collectors get a little obsessive. Report this Post to the Staff
Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 07/31/2006 5:16 pm I dont know if I can draw a line, if I have 5 coins where the die break gets a little bigger on each coin then I would think I have the best thing since sliced bread in my collection, and would probably send them to NGC to be placed in a multi holder. I am very interested in EVERY VAM known and even love looking for ones that aren't known yet so I dont think I could ever draw a line on where I will stop, if I did it would have to be in the sand so I can just cover the line up and redraw it a little further down the VAM street Report this Post to the Staff
