Wild! I typed "R" and it printed "are."

How does the date look? The split serif on the 9 is pretty telling on the 1936-1DO-002.

Quote: Wild! I typed "R" and it printed "are." Yeah, it likes to do that a lot. It will replace "U" with "you" alot, too. It can be frustrating sometimes.

What happens when you type P? Really though, what makes this something special? Is it not just a filled die? WOLF

It could be from a different die without the doubled die. Part of the "R" leg broke off the hub and several dies showed this problem. Kind of like the 1956 Cents with the lower edge of the 6 missing from the date.

Here's the date. I dunno. Could it still be the broken leg variety without the split 9?

No. The hub that created the dies made several with the problem. So only the 002 die will have the doubling on the 9 and the missing left foot on the "R".

Quote: Must be damage. Thought I had something interesting. Unless I'm missing something, coop is not calling it damage. He said it was missing on the hub (and the die). But that it is not 1936P-1DO-002.

Steve199 has it right. Its not damage, it just something that happens when a hub(that creates dies) has a problem that is passed onto the other dies created from it. Another example is the bottom edge of the 6 missing on the 1956 cents. We find that on several different dies, created by the same hub. Ignore the arrows. Look at the bottom of the 6.

What I meant was it must be damage to the coin I was posting.

Quote: What I meant was it must be damage to the coin I was posting. Coop is saying it is NOT damage to the coin you posted. When you asked the following question, he probably should have said "Yes". Quote: Could it still be the broken leg variety without the split 9?
