In the 2011 edition of Charlton page 65 they have a listing for a 2005P cent with a description of 'First Day' and a 2006P with 'Last Day'. What do the terms 'First Day', 'Last Day' signify. Thanks
Here is my opinion on the subject. The Mint added the term First Day to the first few thousands coins being minted using the newly installed dies for a given denomination. How many qualify for this attribution remains a mystery to me.The logic behind it is that the quality of these coins should be a bit superior to the coins minted afterward using the same dies and therefore command a small premium. For exemple,if you collect small cents, your chance of getting a MS-67 should be greater searching these rolls than the regular ones. I do not know of any last day issue.
