Sorry for all the questions lol

I have a 1901 Morgan that looks really good, but it is ungraded. The previous owner had it priced at $649.

Who should I send it to (PCGS or NGC) and how much does it cost to get it graded (with shipping, etc)? Thanks in advance!

I can't get the pictures resized right. Anyway, I looked on the NGC and PGCS sites. It says $500 value max on one of the sites. How can that be?

The grading services all have a complex heirarchy of different fees for their services, depending on the expected market value of the coin and how quickly you want the coin graded and returned to you. I'm not entirely sure why they do this, since in theory they should take just as much care to grade a $10,000 super-rarity than they would for a $10 scratchtray find. The only reason I can think of is, "Because we can".

The PCGS price list is here. Be aware that you can't simply send coins to them; you have to either join their "Collector Club" (which of course costs more money) or submit them via a PCGS Authorised Dealer.

The NGC price list is here. As with PCGS, direct submission to NGC is also restricted, to members of their "Collector Society" or members of the ANA; otherwise, it's via an NGC Authorised Dealer.

Thank You Sap. As stated before, it's annoying that I can't send something to get graded the least expensive way with the coin being worth more than $300, as that looks to be the case with PCGS.

Being a new collector it might be best to wait a little and learn more about coins before rushing things. Images would definitely be helpful and
