The first I believe is a St Thomas and Prince Islands 20 Reis.
However, the coin is clearly dated 1820 - Krause only lists for dates 1813 and 1815 in this type, and 1819 and 1825 for another type. Is it actually from another Portuguese colony?

Yep. Look up "Mozambique" and you'll find the answer to this mystery.

These coins are actually generic colonial issues, intended for circulation in whichever colonies they happened to be shipped to. Assigning them to specific places seems somewhat arbitrary, but that's what Krause has chosen to do.

Thanks for clearing that one up Sap. Just found it in Krause under Mozambique, they have even put a note under the Mozambique 20 reis saying they have moved some that were formerly there to St Thomas and Prince. Bizarre! Thanks again.
