Am I missing something, or did these Barber quarters go for a HUGE premium? I see entire rolls going for $200, but I'm new to numismatics so maybe it's me. Ebay# 250677152284 sorry I lost the URL.
Rest in Peace

Holy toledo! No joke about the "premium". Looks to be a G/VG 1901-s, which is the major key and doubtlessly what shot the price up! I'd be too nervous about an added mintmark personally, but if that coin is genuine, the buyer made out pretty well.

I think it's odd that a 1901-s Barber quarter is posted in a lot like this. It should have been sold separately and sent off for authentication. I mean seriously, this is THE key date of commonly circulating coins of the 20th century! Even with the heavy circulation, it would not be far off from 5 figure territory. This would qualify as THE ebay "junk lot" find of the year imho.

I picked up a dateless 16 slq from the same seller, but it seems more plausible that those may have been overlooked. This seller is truly a wild card, you just never know what may pop up in those lots of his. I wish I knew who the max bidder was so we could follow through and see if this coin is truly genuine...cuz he'd take the crown!

Well, in this case, the lot states "1901-s" in the verbage, so if it's not a 1901-s, you could send it back as "item not as described".
