The company was originally established as Johnson Matthey (Canada)
Limited in 1930.
In 1947, following a joint-venture agreement with PR Mallory Inc
(Indianapolis), it operated as Johnson Matthey & Mallory Limited until
1977, when the company was renamed Johnson Matthey Limited.

Thanks for the additional information, I found some as well:
---------
When German giant Siemens bought GEC Osram it looked as if one of the oldest UK producers of heavy metals might die. The new parent was interested in the Osram light bulb business and seemed set to close the modest metals operation. Mallory Metals of St. Albans, UK, came to the rescue; its managing director, Brian Nathan, had been with Johnson Matthey when that firm was a major competitor in the heavy alloy industry. Mallory's acquisition of Osram's heavy alloys manufacturing equipment fits comfortably with its specialist metals trading business, reports Mukund Pandit.

That equates to about $188US an ounce ( I think), and I didn't want to mention it but since you have, WOW.

someothertime : That article was published on the internet in Nov. 2003 but was first released in April of 1992. Either way it appears to be long after this bar was produced.
