I don't quite like copper coin,so my collection of coins mainly silver. But I was facinating by rare coin no matter it was made of silver or copper. I purchase this coin from Franch seller,it was relatively rare in the 19th century moroccan coins. The SCWC value it as UNC $600 XF $250. I don't know why this coin was to make price this high, there must some reasons behind the price of this coin,is anybody know why? And is this one common or hard to find?

Interesting coin, it's listed as 4 Falus Y#3. No mintage recorded in Krause but this series was only issued for two years AH1306 (1889) and AH1310 (1893), so I suspect that the mintage was low which might explain the value. I would grade it AU-53.

echizento Thank you for your comments.I thought the french colony coins don't attrack the US collectors, hahaha. But mid-east and north african coins is one of my mainly focus.I found them interesting and rare to see in the world coin market,so I will keep them for a while and invest on them.

In Morocco, from AH1207-1299 ( 1793-1881 ), we can see " Cast Bronze Falus " with seal of Solomon. In the last period : AH1280-1299, the 4 falus weight was 11.54 g.
In the reign of Moulay al-Hasan I, AH1290-1311, we note a change in favour of the hammered coinage : the new bronze coin striked in the mint of Fes in AH1310 ( modern coin with no seal of Solomon in the decoration ) was not accepted by population for transactions and consequently a very low quantity were striked. This explain that the price for this coin, 1/4 Falus to 4 Falus are particularly high for the grades VF, EF and Unc.

A beautiful coin with nice design! And who cares about the composition! I generally like French colonial even when they are made out of aluminum.
Edit: Not that I call this coin French colonial, just there was mentioning of such above!
