New guy here. Been collecting for 50+ years but not too literate with computers. Glad I found ya'll.

Question: When a coin is TPG with detail (example: MS 62 Cleaned), does this mean it would have graded higher had it not been cleaned?

I apologize if this is a previous topic.

Thanks

who is the TPG that graded it? Sounds odd that one of the major TPG's would do that

Not unusual anymore, I think only PCGS won't give a details grade.

well I have been told Anacs will only give a maximum of MS-60 on a uncirculated coin with issues

SEGS is on the slab as the grading company.

Somewhat. I've always interpreted it to be that the Details grade is the net grade, so without the cleaning, the coin would probably be bumped up a little.

I have always taken it as the true grade with the added detail of in this case cleaned...most people selling the coin would drop the price range to a lower grade due to cleaned status..if the price isn't dropped don't buy.
