What do ya'll think? I feel that it conservatively is XF45. Here's my scans, wish I could get some better ones.

Sorry they aren't bigger. Any advice as to how to do it? All I've done thus far is upload to photobucket.

Nice rare date 5 cent coin. I would say EF. Easily a $300.00 coin.

Vf 30 I say. How to do it?: Scan
1 set your scanner to MINIMUM 600 dpi-full color 2 scan 3 crop tight to the coin once the scan is done 4 save as .JPEG file 5 upload to photo bucket even if large size... DO NOT reduce size before uploading.
that should do it.

I'd also say VF, probably VF-30. Looks to be decently well struck, it's attractive IMO. I am convinced that the weaker struck coins in this series a more likely to "slip by" at a higher grade because their design elements will be expected to have less detail. I would guess PCGS might go XF on it.

Man that coin is a hard one to call it is on the edge of vf and xf....since I am a conservative grader I will go with VF+

1cent, I think that thought was what lead me to XF. I looked at some of these coins that were graded and the forehead/bottom of the crown was fairly warn, far more than this coin and were typically graded VF-30 or higher.

I agree with Guppie. I could see one company grade it VF-30 and another EF-40.

It looks dipped, there's no dirt or patina and the colour is the same everywhere; an EF-40 would show lustre in the legend (or a different hue in a photo) and this one doesn't seem to have either the lustre or the details in the band of the crown to make EF.
I would pay $200-250 for it as a VF30 detail-cleaned.

VF-25, but then I am not good at grading the Canadian coins. Certainly one of the key dates in this series and a super coin to boot.
