MrGlass44 New Member United States 46 Posts	Posted 08/25/2010 11:39 am I doubt that any of you remember me asking about uncleaned roman coins but I got one and just finished cleaning. I am very happy with how it turned out and I was able to identify it. It's this one. http://www.time-lines.co.uk/constan...28206-0.html It's in about the same condition as the one in the picture. I need to find a better way to store it thought. It's just sitting in a cup of Ballistol with a few uncleaned coins right now. Report this Post to the Staff

echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 08/25/2010 12:36 pm Cleaning ancient coins is a learning experience, luckily there are still lots of common coins out there to experiment on. I'm sorry to say that you went a little too far on cleaning this one. Your goal should be to removed as much of the dirt as possible without removing any of the patina or altering it's appearance. MrGlass44 New Member United States 46 Posts	Posted 08/25/2010 3:15 pm Ya I discovered that late in the game so I just went with it. The other ones I'm being nicer to. This one I pretty much put it in a chemical bath that would strip the enamel off your teeth. I used all my gun cleaning/restoring equipment to clean the coins because thats what I had on hand. Lessen learned. I'm still happy with the coin. Report this Post to the Staff
