I found two 1968 Canada Ten Cents for my collection. I live in the US so it is always great to find nice Canadian Coins in rolls to add to the circulated collection! One is not magnetic so does that mean it is silver? The other is magnetic and I am attaching a photo of the edge to ask if you think it is the Philadelphia Mint or Royal Canadian Mint. p.s. first time I ever scanned a coin on its edge... this hobby always has something new and fun! Thank you!

yes, 50% silver. and the grooves seems to be V-shaped, so RCM.

Was it 1969 when the RCM stopped minting silver for business strikes? Inquiring minds wish to know.

Quote:Was it 1969 when the RCM stopped minting silver for business strikes? History of CompositionLooks like 1968 was the last silver year (and they had two versions that year): - 50% silver, 50% copper
- 99.9% nickel

LOL! It's nice to see a picture of a coin with only the rim. And exactly what we're looking for here besides the weight.

THAT is what distinguishes the coins from the two mints? Oh man, for some reason I thought they meant denticles, not groves.
*sigh*

It's funny how for at least a hundred years (and even now) that the US and Canadian $ were at parity for so long, yet they're never seen that way when it comes down to business. It's basically the same. However, aren't most Canadian coins intrinsically worth more than US coins b/c of the nickel content?

thanks castor, I actually checked the english version of that site to help identify varieties but still thought the scans were of denticles, not grooves.
