I have come across an unusual 1974 Penny. It is a yellowish gold and has "OR" stamped in a small flag in front of Lincoln's face. Any ideas is this even legit?

Welcome to the CCF! Sounds like a novelty piece, probably gold plated or brass plated. They do this with Lincoln cents a lot. Look for the "Kennedy" face in front of Lincoln's face :-)

Welcome fellow Michigander. It sounds like it is a plated coin and the "OR" probably stands for Oregon, legit? yes, value? one cent.

The "flag" is probably the outline of the state of Oregon. they used to make these as novelties. Fifty Lincoln cents each with the outline of a state punched into it with the abbreviation of the state in it. Local coin club member had a full set of them at the meeting a couple months back, all 2000's. Probably for the millennium.

Do you know what the story is with the Kennedy outline cents? I know they aren't worth anything, just curious.

from Michigan's Great Southwest!

Here's a Tennessee example. Is it similar to your Oregon?

Strohbie - I have seen postcards with the Kennedy-stamped Lincolns mounted to them. The postcard is printed with a number of coincidences between Lincoln's life, presidency and assassination and Kennedy's life, presidency and assassination.
