I do not know if my wife loves it, but she does appreciate it enough to help me search through her change. Most of my best finds are actually hers, like the 1999-S Proof Delaware quarter she got in change. She was also the one that found most of my circulation Statehood Quarters in the last few years of that program.

Quote: hmmph.. all the choices are wife-related The questions are also biased against darksiders. My wife used to collect (dark side as well) when she was a teen. Now she rolls her eyes at my quantities and the fact that I'm still looking for more. Edit for spelling

I voted "doesn't understand it". my girlfriend is completely non-supportive but I hope to change that. Haven't thought of a way yet but I've been looking for coins that may interest her. NONE. She sees coins as crappy things you find on the ground and spend on groceries. I always try to explain Classic coins and the serious history behind them. The hands that may have touched my Trade dollar, bust halfs, Half Dimes, etc...

You don't have an option of Rolls her eyes and nods blankly with a look on her face of get rid of the rest of that crap in the attic before you start another collection.

There may be the occasional "disadvantage" in having your significant other interested in coins. My s.o. cut open one of my 2009 Uncirculated Mint Sets to get the Copper P+D Cents and the Satin Finish JFK's for her albums. You see, I had already set aside two "high-quality" cherry-picked Mint Sets for my collection, so she assumed that another Set I had on my computer desk was fair game to be cracked open. To be fair, the Pres. Dollars in that Set had some minor marks, so it was not good enough to be one of my "saved" sets (but the Cents and JFK's she liberated look very nice indeed!) The Quarters from that Set ended up in her daughter's album...

Mine says she hates it, but does bring home some coins from work for me to look at. She hates me on the computer more than anything. Sometimes I forget about time.

She roll searches with me... only CWR Halves that she sees have stuff in them. ... The only problem is she then wants me to give her the money from the ones she "finds" when I sell them.
Guess that is the cost of doing business ;)

My wife is a combination of rolls her eyes, indifferent, and tolerates it. But yes, mainly she gets annoyed with me on the computer for 14hrs. straight ;)

I comprehensively neutralised any opposition my wife may have had to my numismatic interests about 6 months before we were married, way back late in 1972.
I sold almost all of my then collection, which became 20% of the value (the deposit) of our first house. You can't put a roof over your head with a stack of rare coins! In today's values that collection would be worth perhaps $100,000. We shared ownership of the house. I still kiss my wife sweetly every night before sleeping.
If you are interested in the details of the collection, have a look at the thread 'To Key or Not to Key'. Briefly, it was a type set of Australian coins made up of the rarest date of each type in bronze and silver, an Australian gold type set of sovereigns and half sovereigns and a small but very nice collection of Roman coins.
I still have been very active in building a very nice collection of ancients and world coins since then.

Tolerates it, mostly because our son is into it too though I think. I'm just getting back into it since I was about his age. Don't see her ever joining us in having an interest in it... Unless I find some real nice coin that brings us some money anyways
