Roll Searched Jefferson Nickles - Coin Community Forum

charlie200944 New Member United States 28 Posts	Posted 08/30/2010 9:31 pm I just completed roll searching a box of nickles. I did find a 1939d (AU+) in the rolls along with a 1943s. I have them seperated by decades now I need to seperate them by the years. so I am in need of some advice on what I should keep and what I should send back to the bank. but I am going to finish out my 2 sons nickel books first. any advice will be helpful. thanks charlie Report this Post to the Staff

fioti Pillar of the Community United States 4212 Posts	Posted 08/31/2010 1:06 pm I agree with afclassic87, but it'll be a real service to yourself to familiarize yourself with the varieties. Easiest to spot(if you find 'em) are the '43/2P, '49D/S, '54D/S '55D/S and anything from '41-'45 with a broken "R" in "PLURIBUS" Keep an eye out for BU '82Ps and anything from a PF set. That's a short list, now you know why I don't do cents. Report this Post to the Staff
XavierOfGreen Pillar of the Community United States 2589 Posts	Posted 08/31/2010 4:48 pm because the planchets are harder than other series, there are more errors in nickels than other coins. Major die breaks ( Cuds), partial collars, and large misaligned dies are all findable in a variety of dates and definately worth keeping. -XoG Report this Post to the Staff
