Hello all!

I've been snooping and reading around on the forums for a while before I signed up. I have a few Gold Liberty's i'd like to show everyone and get an idea of what I have. I also have another gold piece that I believe is mexican that I will put into a separate thread as well as a strangely colored Eisenhower dollar i'll also post in another thread.

Here is the few gold Liberty's that I have to share. Any help is much appreciated! I'm always eager to learn about my new found coin collection I was given.

Coin's are 20 Dollar 1901, 10 Dollar 1894, 5 Dollar 1880, 2.5 Dollar 1903.

The single is a 5 dollar 1879, it as a mint of either s or d but I cant tell. Not because of wear, its just so tiny.

to CCF!

That's a nice little gold collection you have there! Your 1879 $5 piece is an "S" mint. No Denver (D) coins were struck in the 19th century.

Your 4-pc set appears to be all common dates but is still very valuable regardless of date or condition. Some of these pieces can get very expensive if they are in Mint State condition.

Read up on your coins. A wealth of information exists here at CCF (see Navigation tools at the left) and on the Internet. If I had to give a "ballpark" estimate of these coin's value it would be about $3,000 total. They could be worth much more but would need to be graded first.

Glad to have you aboard CCF!

Yes, if you are able to take good obverse and reverse pics it will help. Take your 1879-S Half Eagle for instance. If it were to grade AU50 it would be valued around $375 but if it graded MS63, it's value jumps to $2,375!

Sounds like I have some work to do this weekend! I'm also going to look for a good local dealer that can give me an estimate on what the set would be worth.
