Take a look in Coins of Canada by Haxby and Willey- THey show your near 6 in XF at 75.00 -and that is my latest edition which is a 1997 issue- So it could be worth even more- I am sure there is probably a later edition of the Coins of Canada.- However, I still use it as a yardstick due to not owning a later edition. I would grade the 1926 at VF - $28.00. The 1935 looks like EF $ 18.00.

Thanks very much. SN31 I beleive has really lowballed the coins though. The 1935 in my opinion would be at least AU and the 1926 at least ef.

OK. I have a TPG 1928 in AU and as I examine it in comparison to your 1935 I guess it would be AU. That would make the value $50.00.I'm sticking with my VF for the 1926 though, to be EF there should be more detail in the jewels in the band of the crown and also on the ribbon of the robe, unless it's just the image which is not as large or as sharp as the 1935. My values are in $CDN and are from the latest CCN Trends Bill

From these pics I don't think that I would go About Uncirculated on the 35. The Crown looks a tad too warn and without the detail for an AU. I would go EF though on the 35 and the pic on the 26 is just too small for an appropriate grading. However, based upon the comments of "value" you probably did ok for both coins at $70 even without an AU grade.

For EF you want all 8 jewels on the band to be clear, the pearls running up the crown, and normally details in the fleur de lis and orb on the crown. VF should have 4-6 jewels, blurring in the pearls, but still some distinct circles. However, nickel is a much harder metal to strike, and the earlier issues epecially are notoriously weakly struck. Check points like the mustache, edge of the beard, eyebrows, and chest medallions.
