Why is my cent silver? It's larger than my 1999 cent too!

Kinda looks like the 1943 zinc coated steel cents. Maybe someone took off the copper plating with acid (probably nitric).

What makes you think this is silver as opposed to just dirty or oddly toned? It does look interesting, there's something about it that looks a little funky, I'll give you that

The coin looks kind of like my 1943 coin, except the reverse has more of a green cast to it. Yes it is bigger. The wear and gouges show no copper either.

And it's bigger than a normal cent?... Weird.
I'm gonna say fake? But I could be wrong. Maybe some sort of error but if it was on a nickel blank it would be even bigger instead of just slightly bigger

Or possibly a science project of some sort. Are those bubbles below AMERICA?

Or creepy morse code die chips that spell "NIQ"?

Texas Cent made by pounding between pieces of leather. For some reason every one of them I have seen has also lost its copper plating. I don't know if it is related to the pounding or if it is deliberately stripped off because the breaks in the plating would be obvious. What is surprising is that they don't copper plate them afterward. It would make them even more convincing.
