I don't think it's Struck Through Grease. Either struck through something else, or possibly a planchet flaw or lamination. Wait for some of the pros to chime in. Pretty coin, though!

I agree with Scooby, I don't think this is a " Greaser ". The Pro's will pin it down soon enough. BTW, Nice Lincoln! It's in real nice shape for 76 years old.

definitely not Struck Through Grease. but is must be an error because the end of the wheat stalk is still visible. my vote is either extreme die wear or struck through cloth/rag

there is also the possibility of acid concentrated on that area of the coin.

Looks like something wrapped around to the obverse also. Looks like a struck through error. But what? A closer image might help on the areas in question. TRUST and the lower area where AMERICA should be?

Quote: I could not find your post in the error forum, so I moved this one for you Thanks, I deleted the error forum post, as it had no replies. This thread had replies before I had a chance to catch it and move it myself. Thanks anyway though Quote: A closer image might help on the areas in question. I think Adam E may be on to something. I also agree that this was struck thru a cloth or rag "wad" that also went over to the obverse. If you look very close at the new pictures, it almost appears to have a light textile pattern associated with it. I could be wrong. Too indented for grease.

You might be surprised how indented a strike through "grease" can be.

Pictures are big red Xs now Grease can also combine with other machinery gunk such as metal shavings/dust to form a more solid material. This is most obvious on dropped letter/number errors where gunk fills part of the die and then falls out onto the next planchet, leaving an incused impression of a letter or number.

Quote: Pictures are big red Xs now I still see them. As mrwisker said in another thread: Quote: Pictures are coming up fine for Me Our server was changed just under a month ago. Some ISP's do not update as they should, therefore, those people that cannot see the pictures are most likely directed to the old server as opposed to the new server.

Must be my eyes. The area on the reverse looks raised.
