We are not sure what kind or year this Greek coin is please help us to identify this coin we do appreciate any info on this coin.

It's a silver drachm from Parthia. Most Parthian coins have side-view portraits, rather than facing like on this coin.

I believe that this is the Emperor Vonones II who ruled for a very short time 51 AD.

I have Percy Gardner's book:
'The coinage of Parthia' publ. 1968, San Diego.

Interestingly, my book does not illustrate any facing coins; Sap is right; facing coins of Parthia, generally, are scarce.

I have found three similar items on the vcoins search website for:

O: Vonones 11 AD 51, facing bust, R: Archer seated. Drachm, 3.7 grammes. Prices range from $175 to $300 in VF condition.


Curiously, Gardner says no coins were issued for this prince. Methinks that more research has been done since Gardner's work.
