with 2 hrs left, thats some serious bidding. I wonder though, even with a pitted 09-S-VDB, 14-d, 22-s, 31-s,in decent condition, in those conditions, from strictly an investment/resale stand point, does this stand to make a profit?

I'd really pass on that one. Way to many fake 09S VDB's out there. Same with the other higher priced ones. Lots of tampered with 22D's to make them appear as a 22 Plain. Numerous 14D's made from 44D's. One more possible problem is they are all in a Whitman FOLDER. If those coins have been in there for a long period of time and in a damp location, the reverses may well be all messed up from the glue.
That is going to be a lot of money for taking a chance.

Agree with Carl - there are some pretty big risks.

However, this is also a classic case where you could take a low-key auction like this, win it, then turn around and dress it up.

Spend $20 on a Dansco, give sharp clean close-ups and don't describe your key dates as "pretty good".

You could make a fair amount of money.

But of course, there are the chances of the keys in that auction being messed up - you certainly can't tell from the pics.

And too if the main key coins are fakes, other less valuable keys corroded on the reverses, not much you could do to dress up a big mess.
Of course, as with many situations where you really don't know, all coins could be real, in better condition than we think, not corroded reverses from the glue, etc. Then someone will get a real great collection. You just never know with ebay.

NEVER trust these on ebay! If the seller really cared and the set was legit at all, he'd post good pictures and detailed grades for the coins. The S VDB and the 14D don't even look real IMO. The rest of the coins look to be basic junk.

Tell you what, if I were to ever sell my complete set it'd take me about 2 days just to prepare the post. LOL
