Do or have any of you bought or buy unsearched wheats rolls from E-bay? Can you let me know if you have any luck and maybe the best sellers you have found. I'm a little skeptical on buying these because of an unchearch buffalo/liberty roll of nickels I bought that was at least 75% dateless buffalos.

There's no such thing as unsearched Wheats unless you find an old hoard from a friend, neighbor or family member that doesn't collect coins.

Someone will try to tell you if you find a seller who doesn't normally sell coins, gets into an estate, blah blah blah. On ebay one in a few thousand at best, probably not even that. I do believe some people on ebay will try to rip you off worse than others when selling rolls and unsearched lots but its basically a HUGE scam for the most part. Buy what you see and know, assume everything else is common.

i fell for it a couple times in my early days collecting again, yes it worked for me as far as getting a LOT of common dates - since I was starting new again I wasn't disappointed in the coins I got.. but you aren't going to get rich with rare wheats in those lots best ones I found on there were ones that were 2.50 a roll, I bought 10 rolls from the guy, was even more happy with those than any others -- they really try to reel you in with the indian's on one or both ends seems to work for them, I see rolls going for major money, 30.00+ a roll , most I paid was 7.00-8.00 and it was still too much unless you're new to wheats, I would advise staying away from the ebay unsearched lots

Thanks for the advice! Pretty much what I was thinking. You would pay hundreds to get lucky when I could just save up for what I need.

Anytime you hear that statement about coins, stop and think. If they say a bag, box, rolls of ALL UNSEARCHED Lincoln Wheat Cents, how would they know what they all are unless they did SEARCH them all. They would have had to look at every coin in order to say that. If I told you I had 6 quarters in my pocket and all are 1975's but I didn't look at them, is that logical? How would I know if I didn't look? There is no such thing as a pile, box, bag, rolls of anything that is supposed to be UNSERCHED if it is explained exactly what they are.

You can even purchase the old style wrappers to create the look of original bank rolls. DO NOT BELIEVE the " Unsearched Roll" offers. You know the ones where there is an indian on one side and a VDB showing on the other, it's made up to sell for the most money but these you be plants or seeds. Don't be fooled!

not to mention plenty of those shady sellers will pay someone to buy a roll and post feedback saying "THANK SO MUCH FOUND A 14-D A+++++++++++"

@iamprice -- right, I've seen those auctions, and that's very likely. I've concluded that most bulk wheats for sale have been searched several times over. Sometimes they'll seed a bulk lot with a few earlier coins, but never keys. Truly "unsearched" is a rare thing. Early keys like 09-S VDB were all pulled from circulation by the 1920s.

Some might do that but if your a kid in college, you have possibly thousands of kids around you that will gladly send in fantastic feedbacks since they all do that. Not to long ago my Son was in college and told me that many, many, many kids all get together and do that. He did that also. Feedbacks on ebay are as honest as UNSEARCHED COINS.
