Got this note a couple of days ago and noticed the serial is kind of odd. I don't know if the plate is damaged or if it just has ink buildup or what.

The upper serial looks slightly over-inked but nothing really abnormal.

The thing I thought looked unusual are the double lines, if this were a coin it would be a double die.

Plates are in effect....dies.

Serial numbers are not in the plates. (It is a very minor inking thingy).

Here is what is transferred from the plate:

Now I didn't say that it wasn't interesting Nick. I just thought that it was more interesting that you considered the plate as a possible suspect.

It's interesting that both SN's have the same effect. Next question, what does the "treasury seal" look like?

IF something was broken in the SN printing mechanism (axle) then both SN's will not look the same. Siuol down below had some SN's where "one" of the digits was partially fractured / cracked from a particular print run.
